All are welcome to attend the transitional Diaconate ordination of Gregory Merkley, who will be ordained for service in the Diocese of Hamilton. We pray that by God's mercy, this sacred ritual will work powerfully for the glory of God and the salvation of the people Gregory will serve.
Deacons can preach at Holy Mass and other various liturgies, as well as preside at baptisms, marriages, and funerals. They can also expose and repose the most Blessed Sacrament (the Eucharist), and offer a blessing (Benediction) with it.
They also offer blessings in the name of the Church, of both people and objects — including holy objects and people's homes.
Holy Mass, with the ordination rite included within it, begins at 4 PM at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King in Hamilton, ON.
«Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for gain; they must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then if they prove themselves blameless let them serve as deacons.» (1 Tim 3:8-10)
