Join us for this free event as Dr Brad White talks about the story of wolves, coyotes and their hybrids in North America is closely linked to European colonisation. Deforestation, agriculture and wolf control led to the decimation of eastern wolves that were a keystone species in the extensive deciduous forests south of the Great Lakes and the St Lawrence River and east of the Mississippi. coyotes than grey wolves that evolved in Eurasia. Their decline led to the expansion western coyotes to the north and creation of the hybrid coywolf that now occupies much of the area originally occupied by the eastern wolf.
